Physiotherapists are authorized health personnel with independent responsibility for assessment and treatment. NFF (Norwegian Physiotherapy Association) describes physiotherapy as follows:
"Physiotherapists work with the body and movement to promote good health. A physiotherapist prevents and treats injuries and diseases that cause pain and/or reduced function in the musculoskeletal system. Treatment is based on examination and assessment of the patient's problem and what the patient himself wants help to. The aim is that the patient can develop, regain or maintain the same functional capacity, utilize their own resources and actively contribute to improving their own health."
